Bono, lead singer of Irish rock band U2, has confirmed that he has been receiving treatment for glaucoma for the past 20 years. He now joins a group of celebrities including Whoopi Goldberg, Ray Charles and Bill Crosby all of whom are affected by the same condition. Bono’s case serves to increase awareness of the condition among the community and goes to show that anyone is susceptible. It also highlights that with treatment, glaucoma can be managed over a long period of time with effected individuals continuing to lead productive and full-filling lives.
